Welcome to Crash Diets

My name is Tim and this site is dedicated to all forms of crash dieting. Over the past 10 years I have tried allot forms of crash diets no so much for weight loss but for the detox benefits usually associated with such diets. I am here to share not only my personal knowledge on some of these diets I’ve done, but also information on all crash diets that I have learned about over the years. Most of these diets are relatively safe to try for most people if they are followed up with a long term diet and exercise plan, but some I have added some that are just down right insane/extreme (I have not done any of the insane/extreme crash diets and I would not suggest you try any of them either). As with any radical change in your diet you should consult your doctor before starting any of these crash diets.  I have all the crash diet plans, recipes, products, videos, and all the possible benefits/side effects associated with each diet. So what is a Crash Diet?

Well most would classify a crash diet as an extreme restriction of the bodies’ calorie intake for the purpose of achieving rapid weight loss. These diets are also known as fad, fast, liquid, cleanse or detox diets. Most experts would say that they are unhealthy because they don’t teach people the proper life changing skills needed for long lasting sustained weight loss and can also have adverse side effects on the body. Yet, there are others that say these types of diets have made them feel 10X better not only reducing their weight, but also reducing joint pain, headaches, digestive, and over all body aches. Some would even call them life savers.

Do Crash Diets work?


Well that all depends on the individuals goals and determination to sticking to the very strict guide lines set by most of these diets. Make No mistake most of these diets are very extreme and shock the body into converting fat cells into calories resulting in weight loss and detox. These diets put allot extra stress on the body and some are very hard to implement. If your goal is to lose a quick 5-20 pounds for a special event such as a date, wedding, or bikini season then most of these diets can help you reach your goal. But if your goal is long term weight loss these types of diets are not very effective and can cause some people to get into a vicious cycle of rapid weight loss followed by rapid weight gain. This is caused because during the crash phase the bodies calorie intake is severely restricted causing the body to go into survival mode. This results in the body converting fat cells into calories resulting in weight loss. The only problem is that when you return to your normal eating habits your body is still in survival mode causing you to store all the extra calories as fat resulting in rapid weight gain. This is commonly referred to as the YO-YO effect and cab is considered to be very unhealthy. But there are many people that have implemented crash diets very successfully you just have to take steps to not gain back any weight after implementing a crash diet.

Master Cleanse or Lemonade Detox Diet


This is an all liquid diet and has been around since the 40’s. Millions have tried Master Cleanse diet including Beyoncé some even now call it the Beyoncé diet. This a very simple,  but very difficult to implement plan the diet is just mixture of fresh squeezed lemons or limes, organic maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water (YUMMY) that’s it no food at all. There is also a sea salt flush you drink in the morning and an herbal tea you drink at night. The diet usually goes on for 7-14 days.


Cabbage Soup Diet


This diet is one of the most popular crash diets in the world and is also sometimes known as the Mayo Clinic diet (ITS NOT). It is defiantly one of the healthier crash plans because it’s a super low-fat, but high fiber content. So, if you like eating cabbage soup with other vegetables along with a little fruit then this is for you.  This diet is usually done for 7-10 days.


Grape Fruit Diet


This diet has been around since the 30’s and was started by Dr. Kelly D. Brownell. There are many variations of this plan, but it basically involves eating some grapefruit before every meal and drinking a ton of water every day. The idea is that grapefruit has loads fat burning enzymes that will kick start the body’s metabolism before every meal causing you to lose weight.


Chicken Soup Diet


Everyone loves chicken soup right? Well after this plan you might avoid chicken soup for some time. This plan requires you to eat a healthy breakfast then just chicken soup for the rest of the day (sweet) this is a very short plan only 3-5 days. This crash works on the same concept of many others by reducing your body’s calorie intake shocking it into survival mode turning fat cells into emergency calories.

Benefits of a Crash Diets

Most crash diets will lead to rapid weight loss when followed correctly, but they also may lead to lowered blood pressure, increased fertility, and a decrease of toxins found in most processed foods leading to reduce joint pain and symptoms associated with asthma/allergies.

Health risks/side effects of a Crash Diet

Even though most crash diets are a very effective means in achieving rapid weight loss they may lead to a vicious cycle of rapid weight loss followed by rapid weight gain leading to unwanted health risk. These restrictive diets also may deprive the body of much needed nutrients resulting in unwanted long term side effects on the body.

Most experts would not recommend a crash diet mainly due to the fact they don’t teach you the proper life lesson needed for long term weight loss. However if you implement a proper follow up plan of diet and exercise these diets can be a very powerful jump start.
